See Eagles Up-Close, Hawks Fly and Hold a Live Owl at Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation this Summer

As a family, and as a team, we go on a lot of road trips. One of the most memorable that we decided to go on came together last minute, with a trip to an outdoor pool and The Birds of Prey Nature Centre, in Lethbridge.

Here’s what you should know before you visit the Alberta Birds of Prey Nature Centre:

  • The Alberta Birds of Prey Nature Centre is only open through the summer months. The centre is planned to re-open for the May 2023, Victoria Day weekend, then open, every day, holidays included, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Labour Day Monday September 4th.

  • Check the schedule on the website before you visit, to time your visit around the demonstrations, and activities like the hawk walk. These are a really engaging way for children to learn more about the animals in the care of the centre.

  • Yes, you can hold a live owl - and it was just as incredible as you think it would be

  • Admission is $14/adults, and $9.50/children. Children under three are admitted to the centre for free. There is no cost to visit the gift shop, but if you wish to walk about the grounds and interact with the birds, the admission fee applies.

Find the schedule, opening hours and learn more at the efforts at www.burrowingowl.com.

This is a great activity to add-in to break up the drive as part of a longer road trip to Montana with the kids, or even to stay within the province. While you’re on a Southern Alberta adventure, you can visit the Henderson Outdoor pool in Lethbridge, or the town of Waterton.
