Alberta Trails is hosting free ‘Tasty Trails’ foraging walks this summer where you can take the family on a foraging walk and learn more about the edible plants on the park at Miquelon Lake, in Alberta.
This engaging and interactive program will lead you through a loop at Miquelon Lake, and is a great introduction into the edible plants in Alberta. If you’ve ever wondered what kind of berries are edible in the park (and which berries to avoid) during an easy, afternoon stroll through the park.
Tasty Trails at Miquelon Lake
Have you always wanted to try those berries in your campsite but weren't quite sure if they were safe? Before you make that pie, you may want to come along on this guided walk to learn more about edible plants in Alberta. The Earth has more than 80,000 species of edible plants and you don't want to nibble the wrong ones!
Know Before you Go: Tasty Trails
The program lasts one hour and includes walking through a loop in the park through easy, flat terrain that is simple enough for young children to join in on the program.
The program will meet in front of the visitors centre, near the parking lot. Arrive a few minutes early - and don’t forget to bring water to drink during the walk.
The tasty trails program is available for all ages, but children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult during the program.
During the Tasty Trails program you’ll learn about local edible plants, learn which plants are poisonous and learn to identify trees in the park
