Where to Get Free (and $1) Ice Cream Cones in Edmonton for Kids

This summer, we’re sharing the best parent hacks to keep you in the fun, and under budget, in Edmonton. From the best Free things to do with your kids every month, to cheap ice cream cones (and yes, even two stores that are serving them up to kids, for free), we’ve got you covered.

Cheap Ice Cream for Kids in Edmonton

Freson Bros.: Free Ice Cream for Little Kids

There are four locations in Edmonton to choose from, and at each location, you can snag a free ice cream cone for your kids on your next visit to the store. Visit the local store to get your free ice cream for kids (we’ve had success with our youngest kids on our team - the under eights), when taking advantage of this deal.

IKEA: Free Frozen Yogurt Cone

Pop into your local IKEA store on the next rainy day - or to get out of the heat on the next sunny day. To get in on this deal, you’ll have to grab a scavenger hunt on the wall across from Smaland, complete it in-store, bring it to the As-is department for your coupon, and head over to the ice cream stand to get your free IKEA ice cream - but it’s a fun, free and cheap thing to do with your kids in Edmonton that ends in ice cream.

Ice Cream Shack: The $1.25 Baby Cone

This one is a hidden gem - the baby cone at the Ice Cream Shack is $1.25 and it’s enough ice cream for the little kid in your life to grab a cone - or two - and try a new flavour. You can choose from any flavour on the menu, so it’s a great way for little kids to sample, and find their favourite flavours. Ice Cream Shack is located at 11 Athabascan Ave in Sherwood Park.

McDonalds: The $1 Soft-serve Cone

The dollar days summer menu at McDonald's is a sure bet when it comes to getting a treat on the cheap. All summer long, get your hands on $1 soft serve (make sure you’re using the McDonald’s app). To make this one even more special, keep a small shaker of sprinkles in your bag - and sprinkle on some magic.
