Weekend Guide: What to do in Edmonton this Weekend with Kids January 20-22

Mad science pop ups! Free swimming, and free skating. There are plenty of chances to get active this weekend, and even try something new with the free kids programming at The Apple Store. We’ve got you covered for the beginning of winter festival season, too - because it’s the Deep Freeze Festival, and there are many ways to get outside and explore the city with the kids this weekend.

Friday

Friday Night Tubing at Sunridge Ski Hill
Friday nights are a fun time to go tubing at Sunridge Ski Hill! Hops on the Hill features live music, snow tubing and a new brewery every week, for the parents to explore. Enjoy the music, and let the kids go snow tubing while you hit the live music and try the brewery, or join them on the hill for some fun. Tickets are $17/person for tubing.

Free Kids Coding Session: Code Your Own App at the Apple Store
Experiment with code and design an app using Swift Playgrounds. Recommended for kids ages 10 and up. This is a fun (and free) way for kids to take part in programming at the apple store, and pique their interest in STEAM. Code and create as a family with Swift Playgrounds using iPad. Kids will experiment with code and design an app using the About Me playground. They’ll use Swift code to customize their app with fun fonts, background colours, Memoji and more. Then you’ll work together to bring their app to life. Recommended for kids ages 10 and up. Devices will be provided.

Winter City Weekends at City Hall
Join the Edmonton Arts Council for free family fun during Winter City Weekends at City Hall! You can take advantage of free skate rentals from 5–9pm on Fridays, 12–9pm on Saturdays & 12–5pm on Sundays. Please dress for the weather & check ice conditions before heading out to the rink!
