Fort Edmonton Park Slated to Open Canada Day Weekend in Edmonton

Excitement is building as Edmonton families begin to look ahead to the re-opening of Fort Edmonton Park. The Fort Edmonton Park enhancement project to create a larger than life historical experience for families is nearing completion.Due to COVID safety, Fort Edmonton Park is slightly delaying the opening of the park, originally scheduled for May Long weekend. Fort Edmonton Management Company has now set their sights on opening the doors on July 1 on Canada Day, subject to AHS restrictions and guidelines.

What's new at Fort Edmonton Park

In the 1920’s-style midway, you will still find old favourites like the carousel and swing ride;  however, you won’t want to miss the new Ferris wheel, outdoor maze, Cabinet of Curios exhibit, funhouse, and expanded game selection. In addition to the rides and attractions, there will be plenty of carnival-style food to enjoy and a healthy serving of photo ops.So many new things to see, including the new front entry plaza and admissions area, expansion to the Midway, and the new signature exhibit, the Indigenous Peoples Experience. The Indigenous Peoples Experience is the new signature exhibit at Fort Edmonton Park where visitors will gather and explore life through the diversity of First Nations' and Métis peoples' histories, cultures, experiences, and perspectives, local to Indigenous life in the Beaver Hills (Edmonton) region. The stories, music, artwork, and text in this experience comes from local Indigenous perspectives, voices, and sources, gathered through engagement with local Indigenous communities, historical documents, and research.“We can’t wait for Edmonton to see what we’ve been building. It’s going to be a totally new and immersive experience. We’re so proud of the new 30,000 square-foot Indigenous Peoples Experience, and the Midway will really be a chance for families just to have some old-fashioned fun which we could all use this summer,” says Darren Dalgleish, President & CEO, Fort Edmonton Management Company.Tickets to the park can be purchased online at fortedmontonpark.ca in the coming weeks.Due to COVID restrictions, the public will be required to pre-book their tickets. Fort Edmonton Management Company is taking all COVID safety precautions and following all AHS guidelines to safely open the park to guests.
