Free Winter City Recreation Events Every Friday and Saturday in Edmonton this Winter

This winter, join the City of Edmonton for on-ice and off-ice winter recreation on Friday and Saturday. Get outside and enjoy skating (bring your own skates) plus fun, off the ice activities like free hot chocolate. These fun, drop-in activities are designed for youth aged 6-12 and their families to encourage winter exploration in Edmonton!

Four locations are participating, including:

  • Castle Downs Park

  • Laurier Park

  • Rundle Park

  • Victoria Park

Edmonton Winter Recreation Event Schedule 2024 (Saturdays, 2-8pm)

Snowshoeing and snow fort building
* Castle Downs by the ice rink
* Laurier Park at Site 7
* Rundle Park by the Family Center
* Victoria Park by the skate oval

Kicksledding
* December-January: Victoria Park
* February: Rundle Park
* March: Victoria Park

Ice Bikes
* December to March: Laurier Park

Orienteering
* December & January: Rundle Park
* February : Victoria, Laurier & Castle Downs Parks
* March: Castle Downs & Rundle Parks

At the events, you can warm up around the fire and get yourself a cup of hot chocolate. Free hot chocolate will be served between 6-9 pm on Fridays, and 6-8pm on Saturdays.
