Here are 6 Apple Camp Classes Your Kids can Take for Free this Summer in Edmonton

This summer, kids can take free Apple camp sessions at the local Apple store to learn more about sketching, art, notes, app creation and even programs like Procreate. Kids can take part in these fun and engaging activities like making their own emojis and putting programs on the iPad to creative use.

Here are six kids classes at Apple Camp in Edmonton

Apple Camp: Design Your Dream Invention
Think like an inventor and follow the process from brainstorm to blueprint. Using iPad and Apple Pencil, we’ll work together to develop ideas that improve our neighbourhoods. Then, we’ll turn them into trading card–style GIFs using Keynote and Freeform. Return visits are encouraged. Recommended for ages 8–12. Devices provided.

Art: Getting Started in Procreate
Explore how to start a sketch by tracing with the Procreate app on iPad Pro. Beginning with a photograph, we’ll show you how to follow contours of a portrait with Apple Pencil. You’ll practice adding shadows and curves to create depth, adjust opacity and layers, and select a colour palette for a portrait sketch to take home. Bring your iPad or we’ll provide one. Recommended for beginners.

Art Lab for Kids: Make Your Own Emoji
Kids will learn fun ways to create their own emoji. We’ll show them how to draw colourful faces and objects. They’ll get hands-on using the Procreate app on iPad with Apple Pencil to draw an emoji to take home. Devices will be provided. For sessions with amplified sound, hearing loop technology is available upon request.

Design Lab: Design Your Own Astronaut
Get ready for an exciting adventure through space. Learn how to create your own astronaut in the iconic Peanuts style using the Procreate app on iPad Pro with Apple Pencil. Draw facial expressions to show emotion and mood, customize a colourful spacesuit, and make your astronaut come alive in a share-worthy GIF. Devices will be provided. Watch Snoopy in Space, an Apple Original, on Apple TV+.

Art Walk: Photos on Location
From taking a self-portrait to photographing groups, we’ll show you how to capture people in their environment with iPhone. We’ll head out to practice working with Portrait mode and Portrait Lighting to find flattering angles for your subject. Get hands-on with the latest iPhone or bring your own. Recommended for all skill levels.

Photo Editing on iPhone
Learn how to fine-tune your photos and videos using the Photos app on iPhone. We’ll show you how to adjust exposure, contrast, colour saturation and more to enhance your shot. Then you’ll add filters, crop and experiment with fun effects. Get hands-on with the latest iPhone or bring your own. Recommended for all skill levels.

Apple Camp classes are two hours through the summer season and available at both Apple store locations in Edmonton: Southgate Centre and West Edmonton Mall. You can find the schedule for the Apple camp classes in Edmonton, here.
