Life-Sized Gingerbread House Returns to Fairmont Macdonald on November 16

On Wednesday, November 16, Fairmont Hotel Macdonald will launch the start of Edmonton’s festive season with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event will unveil the hotel’s 20 foot life-size gingerbread house, a colossal structure brought to life after 600 hours of baking and construction.

Farimont Hotel MacDonald’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is an open-to-the-community event in support of the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton. The Christmas Bureau will be accepting donations for its 2022 goal of 2.2 million for Food Hamper and Adopt-A-Teen programs. Visitors can also support the Christmas Bureau’s pop-up toy shop where volunteers will sell hand-crafted wooden toys donated by the Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre and its Inmate Woodworking Program.

The hour-long celebration will include live musical performances by the local Frere Antoine Catholic Elementary School and homemade cookies and hot chocolate! It’s the perfect time to kick off the holidays in Edmonton with a mid-week ceremony.
