TELUS Spark Brainasium’s Junkyard Playground returns for 2023 as one of the most innovative, and imaginative places to play in Alberta. Opening for the season May 19, 2023, it’s an adventure destination that should make it to the top of your places to explore this summer in Alberta.

Here, it’s time for kids to take the lead. It might look messy – or maybe a bit risky but this type of play is critical for growing brains. Kids make the decisions about how the Junkyard Playground looks and changes day after day. Think of it as a Spark Kids Clubhouse! While the kids are the experts at play, there will be trained facilitators in the area to help if needed and inspire new adventures.

Planning your visit to Telus Spark Junkyard Playground

• The Junkyard playground at Telus Spark will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until June 30, and every day through the summer break, through September long weekend.

• It’s located inside the Brainasium Outdoor Park, just past the tunnel.

  Access is included in your membership (and yes, your Telus World of Science annual membership will get you into the playground)

• The playground is children only - no adults allowed!

• There are tools inside, like hammers, shovels, and gardening tools - risky play is encouraged here - and it just so happens to be great for growth!

• Children will have to wear closed toe shoes to access the playground.
