The Alberta Railway Museum is Open every Weekend Until Labour Day

The Alberta Railway museum is open on summer weekends this year, from the May (Victoria Day) long weekend to the September (Labour Day) long weekend, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our kids have never been more excited to climb on a train, in and out of the cars, and experience the local gem of a museum. Here's what you should know before you go:

  • Skip the flip flops. There are a lot of train cars, tracks and stairs to climb up when you're exploring the trains in the yard - wear sandals that secure in the back to make it easier to adventure.
  • Leave the stroller at home. If possible, skip the stroller - there aren't a lot of stroller friendly paths here
  • Bring a picnic. Come for the day and bring a picnic so you can eat near the train yard on one of the picnic tables.
  • Expect to spend 1 to 2 hours exploring the Train yard through the outdoor spaces in the indoor museum
  • How much does it cost to visit? Admission for adults is $12. Admission for children is six dollars, and children three and under are free of charge
  • The locomotives and trains run only on long weekends and at the top of every hour from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Ice cream and treats are available in the gift card to cool off after a hot day
