The Ice District Outdoor Skating Rink is Open for the Season - 2024

Bundle up, and lace up your skates. The skating rink at Ice District Plaza is open for the season, and we’re ready to lace up our skates, hit the ice and take advantage of the sheltered place to skate downtown Edmonton this winter.

You can skate daily between 10am to 10pm, and though skate rentals aren’t yet available, they are coming soon to the area!

You can get to the ice from 102 Street at Plaza Way, or through 103 Street and 103 Avenue. Though parking underground at JW Mariott is expensive, it’s also a convenient place to access the new Edmonton outdoor skating rink.

Here’s what you should know before you go:

  • There are plenty of places to eat and drink around the Ice District area, making it a perfect place to skate, and have a close proximity to warm up! We’re also big fans of packing thermoses of hot chocolate and enjoying it while we’re shating.

  • Keep warm with the fireplaces outdoors. There are seating benches, and you’ll be warmer if you bring a blanket to sit on while you’re taking a break from the ice!

  • Watch for special events through the season - there’s plenty going on through the winter downtown Edmonton to take part in.

Are you thinking about creating your own ice rink to amp up your venue and bring a magical winter wonderland vibe? It's a great way to build a sense of community and take the entertainment experience to the next level. Just make sure to confirm the ice skating rink cost, plan the installation process carefully, and consider maintenance expenses.
