Elk Island National Park is Hosting a Full-day Star Party in September
Parks Canada is hosting a free Star Party at Elk Island National Park on September 3, 2023 and it’s a wonderful way to experience the magic of the dark sky preserve, with programming for families and special performances.
Elk Island National Park Star Party Schedule
Where: Astotin Lake Recreation Area
When: 2-5pm
Activities: information booths, Beaver Town Daily Discovery, Solar Viewing, Food Trucks
Where: Astotin Theatre
When: 10 am to 9 pm
Activities: Performances by Alberta Parks “DSI: Dark Sky Investigator” (3pm) and Keynote Speaker University of Alberta “ALTASAT program, Alberta’s first satellites” (8pm)
Where: Beach
When: 9 pm to very late
Activities: Night Astronomy with the Royal Astronomy Society of Canada – this event is weather permitting
