Located just over an hour outside of Edmonton, it's a fun weekend day trip to experience a giant pumpkin - that's even bigger when you're a kid. All of the small town fun, Farmer's Market and the giant pumpkins in a row are worth the trip from Edmonton - and it's the perfect location for a day trip outside of the city to enjoy those gorgeous fall colors in a small town setting.

On Saturday, the must-see activities include the threshing demonstration at the Museum and the thrilling grand finale Giant Pumpkin Drop. After the drop, head to Metis Crossing for their Pumpkin Fair Kitchen Party with live music, great menu and drink specials. It’s a great experience with games, festivities and cultural experiences. Saturday is a day packed with family-friendly activities and entertainment that you won’t want to miss. All in-town events are within walking distance but there are busses running for those with tired feet.
I don't remember ever seeing a giant pumpkin as a kid, but you can bet that after we take the girls we're going to hear about giant pumpkins for months to come. We’re stoked to visit the fair, take in the giant pumpkins, stay for the weigh off and Smoky Lake Giant Pumpkin Drop and a full day of family fun, a short ride from Edmonton.
