The weather forecast is gorgeous and it’s a great weekend to get out of town and find a local lake to cool off in, but if you’re staying i the city, there’s plenty to do to entertain the kids. Here’s what to do in Edmonton this weekend with kids, like kicking off the weekend early, with an outdoor movie screening in Stony Plain!

Dive in! It’s a movie in the pool. Visit Eastglen Leisure Centre on Friday Night for a swim in the pool on the cheap (admission is only $2) but also watch a movie while you float and play.

Outdoor Movie: Movie in the Park in Devon - Encanto
Watch an outdoor movie in the park, just outside of Edmonton. Encanto is screening outdoors, and the weather is going to be gorgeous for it. The movie starts as soon as the sun goes down - don’t forget to bring a blanket, and chair to keep cozy when the sun goes down! The outdoor movie will show in ‘Secret Park’ inside Devon Voyageur Park.

Catch a Show at the Green Shack
Experience a fun show at the Green shack! During July and August you can experience live drumming, puppet shows, circus acts, and so much more! Performances will run twice daily at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm, 5 days a week at Green Shacks across the city. This weekend, SocaFit & Friends is popping up at Suder Greens.

Drive-in Movie at Edmonton Night: Spiderman: No Way Home
The popular summer drive-in movie is back, and you can catch Spiderman: No Way Home, on the big screen with the kids. Admission cost for the general public is $20/vehicle (cash ONLY). Military Community and Sturgeon County residents are FREE. A valid DND ID card, CFOne card, or Gov’t issued ID with Sturgeon County address is required. The drive in venue will be accepting vehicles starting at 7 pm, and anticipate the movie start at around 9:30 pm.

Outdoor Movie Night at the Meadows - Bad Guys
There are so many outdoor movie nights you can experience this weekend. This one will be shown in the Meadows, where there will also be food trucks on site if you want to skip making dinner. The community movie starts at 8pm, and bring your own chairs and blankets to stay cozy!

See ‘The Big Sad’ at Edmonton Fringe
A top pick for kids fringe this year, The Big Sad tickets start at just $3.50 for kids. The Big Sad is playing until August 21, so it’s your last chance to see this incredible performance. Hit up the local pool because the inflatables are going to be in the pool! Emerald Hills Leisure Centre inflatables are best suited to younger kids, due to the smaller scale of the inflatables. The Edmonton Wildlife Festival
Head over to Queen Mary Park for the Edmonton Wildlife Festival. The festival will be free to attend with donations encouraged to participate in some activities. All donations going directly towards WILDNorth as we continue to rescue, treat, and release injured and orphaned wildlife. The festival will include a WILDRun and many other fun activities, such as live wildlife (our education ambassadors Yarrow and Corby), games and crafts for the kids, vendors, speakers, live music, information booths, food, and so much more!

Catch a Morning Outdoor Movie at Ice District
Grab you lawn chair and head downtown for an outdoor movie at Ice District Plaza. Get your date or friends together for an immersive experience of some of the most popular cult classic movies including themed décor and food and beverage, movie characters and much more.
