WEEKEND GUIDE: Things to do in Edmonton this Weekend with Kids - March 25-27, 2022
Do you feel that? The weather is gorgeous and spring feels like it’s here. This weekend, get outside and enjoy the first weekend of spring with outdoor adventures, trails, and jumping in puddles! In addition to exploring outside, we’ve got the skinny on things to do INDOORS in Edmonton this weekend too.
What to do in Edmonton this Weekend, with kids:
Friday
River Valley Recreation Drop-in
Join program leaders on Friday evenings or Saturday and Sunday afternoons for FREE recreational programming at Victoria Park, Rundle Park and Hawrelak Park. Take advantage of our picturesque River Valley setting and enjoy some time outdoors trying a new winter sport or activity. Programming includes snow fort building, snowshoeing, kick sledding, orienteering and hot chocolate by the fire
Saturday
City of Edmonton Play Rangers
Explore rotating playground explorations with this family program. Winter Play Rangers will run from noon-6pm Saturdays, from January 15 - March 26 at a variety of River Valley locations. It’s the last weekend to enjoy the winter programming - come out for a Saturday afternoon season send-off!
Kids Clay
Why should kids have all the fun?! Make it a date with your child/grandchild and explore the possibilities of clay while making a memorable keepsake. You will receive a call for project pickup two or three weeks after the program takes place and an art kit will be provided for painting at home.
Learn to Make Pysanka at a Workshop
In this workshop Christina will guide you through the process of creating your own pysankas. Christina Koscielnuk is of Ukrainian heritage and keeping alive the centuries-old Slavic tradition of egg painting. Christina began decorating and painting “pysankas” at a young age and has perfected her skills. The pysankas are decorated using a wax resist technique most commonly known today.
Sunday
Machines and Marches at Edmonton Symphony
Learn how the rhythmic sounds produced by machines can enhance a wide variety of songs and musical styles. Delight in a selection of magical melodies that include marching toys, ticking clocks and a humming harvester machine. It’s all performed by the biggest musical machine of all – our own Edmonton Symphony Orchestra!
Ramen Pop-up
Ramen might be one of our kids’ favourite dishes in the whole city. Kasey Ramen is bringing a Ramen Pop up to Edmonton March 27th and March 28th. The popular at-home Ramen is bringing the noodles to District Cafe, and you can reserve your spot, right now. In addition to Ramen, there’s wontons and cookies, and it’s worth a stop if you have adventurous eaters at home!
Make and Take Play Dough at The Fourth
Kids will make their own travel-size play dough kit to take home (as pictured in double-sided jars). As they rotate through stations, parents/ guardians will help them choose their pre-made play dough, animals and loose parts. Each station will have the components with signage of how many to choose, and parents/ guardians will help children select and count the items.
