The Free Whitecourt River Tubing Slides in Festival Park is OPEN for the Season

Summer adventures a quick day trip from Edmonton are our favourite way to spend the hot days while the kids are off of school. Whitecourt River Slides in Festival Park (formerly Rotary Park) are a great, close-to-home adventure under two hours from Edmonton, for a full-day of family fun.

The water feature includes two man-made creeks with a series of pools and drops for tubing and play, with a shallow basin and beach at the end of the creeks. In addition, there’s a splash park, large green space and playground on site!

Here’s what you should know before you go to Whitecourt River Slides in Festival Park

  • For 2023, the park will be open May long weekend to June 14: Daily 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (weather permitting) Starting May 20, 2023.

  • From June 15 through to the end of Labour Day, the slides will operate daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (regardless of temperatures).

  • After Labour Day through to September 30 the slides will operate, weather permitting, only on the weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The slides will open when the outside air temperature is 16 degrees Celsius (16oC) or above, weather permitting.  If 16oC is not reached by 2:00 p.m. the slides will not open.

  • The slides will be closed occasionally on Wednesdays from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for maintenance.  The slides will be open on these days when maintenance work is complete.

  • Bring a picnic with you when you visit, and make a day of it!

  • The slides in the park are a fantastic experience for all ages. There is enough of a ‘water river’ in the park for adults to go down with smaller children, for children to go down alone, and for older children to have a lot of fun too. This activity checks our boxes for a fun, multi-age experience.

  • Bring your own tubes and flotation toys to the Whitecourt River Slides - if you don’t have a tube, you can pop by the local Walmart in town to grab a tube (and snacks) for your day at the river slides.

  • There’s an air station on site - you can fill your tubes and floaties for the Whitecourt River Slides at the air filling station located on the south side of the concession building.

  • Concessions are available for purchase, if you didn’t pack snacks. You can buy snacks, cool treats and other items from the concession building, near the slides.
