Dermott District Natural Playground

Dermott District Natural Playground

Update: As of fall 2023, the main playground structure has not been rebuilt after it was set afire

Dermott District Playground is a popular natural playground option in Edmonton with wood chip ground cover, a climbing structure, a unique rope swing, toddler climber, and built-in incline slide. Around the playground, there are lounging chairs for playground guests, and an open-ended, ropes climbing course.

This project is more than just a playground – it depicts the destructive and renewing forces of nature. Based on Edmonton’s 1915 flood, the story begins with the Alpine Headwaters, an accessible hill slide and log climber, that leads to River Washout and Humberstone Towers.

Playground Features: natural features, wood chip base, saucer swings, bench seating, toddler climber
