Hike: Explore the Six Bridges in Kennedale Ravine

Kennedale Ravine Trail is a 4 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near the Northridge neighbourhood beginning at about 50 Street, at 131 Avenue to Hermitage Park. It that features a river and is good for all skill levels – but especially suitable for toddlers and little kids, with the easy gravel trail terrain.

Where to start: We parked in the Northridge neighbourhood and made our way over to the trail site, on foot, entering down into the ravine via the multi-use trail to the left on the marked path. (13023 40 Street). Alternatively, you can start at Hermitage Park (to get to the ravine: head north along the bike path, and look on the left for a narrow treed opening between two cliffs)

The trail is easily manageable with little kids, and though there were a couple of hills for them to conquer, they were easy enough that even the most little kids walked the entire trail, until we decided to turn back for lunch. For the older kids, there were plenty of ‘off the trail’ adventures to the creek, to the water outpour, to the higher hills that they ran up and down, while jumping off of rails.

Is the trail stroller friendly? The trail is stroller friendly, for rugged strollers. Aside from two to three small hills, you can easily traverse the trail with a jogging stroller, it's wide enough to explore nearly all of the bridges and trails with it. During the winter, skip the stroller, and hit the sled!
