Free Kids Workshop: Design Your Own Emoji
Kids will learn fun ways to create their own emoji. We’ll show them how to draw colourful faces and objects. Then they’ll explore using the Procreate app on iPad with Apple Pencil to draw an emoji to take home. Devices will be provided. Recommended for kids ages 8–12.
Star Wars on the Big Screen and IN CONCERT
Join the FILMharmonic Orchestra on another journey to a galaxy far, far away as it performs John Williams’ Grammy®-winning score with the remastered 1980 film on the big screen at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. Created by George Lucas and directed by Irvin Kirshner, The Empire Strikes Back is perhaps the greatest achievement of the epic Star Wars saga. The 70 musicians of the FILMharmonique, led by Francis Choinière, will not disappoint! Experience the power of the force, live in concert!
Ice Grooves Swing & Skate at City Hall
Winter City Weekends are returning to City Hall Plaza! With the arrival of frostier temperatures, the Edmonton Arts Council is welcoming back Ice Grooves, Swing n’ Skate and free skate rentals. Bring your cool moves to City Hall Plaza Ice Grooves! Skate and dance along to live DJs every Friday and Saturday night from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Catch a Kid-friendly Improv Show
This Saturday afternoon show is for you! Rapid Fire Theatre’s hilarious performers create this entire show right off the top of their heads, but in order to pull it off, we’re going to need help from all the kids in the audience. In this show kids are invited to shout out and participate – it’ll never be the same show twice!
MARS Exhibit Opens at Muttart Conservatory
Measuring seven metres in diameter, the Mars artwork features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Martian surface. At around one million times smaller than the actual planet, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 10 kilometres of the surface of Mars. The feature art work is at Muttart Conservatory until April 27.
Drop in City of Edmonton Play Rangers
Winter play rangers is a great way to get kids outside! This month, explore snowshoeing, snow fort building, hot chocolate and a warming fire. This free drop in session is a fantastic way to get the kids outside during an interactive, guided program.
Free Home Depot Kids Workshop: Build a Piggy Bank

LEGO Make & Take Soapbox Racer
Visit a participating LEGO® Store on 1/12 from12-2 PM to build this LEGO City Soap Box Racer and take it home. This free LEGO Make & Take is a fantastic way to build the LEGO collection, for free. Available on Saturday and Sunday, at both locations in Edmonton: Southgate Centre and West Edmonton Mall.

Free Kids workshop: Code Your First App
Code and create as a family with Swift Playgrounds using iPad. Kids will experiment with code and design an app using the About Me playground. They’ll use Swift code to customize their app with fun fonts, background colours, emoji and more. Then you’ll work together to bring their app to life. Recommended for kids ages 10 and up. Devices will be provided.
Final Weekend to Explore Angkor at Royal Alberta Museum
Step into the landscape of Cambodia through the Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia, exhibit. It’s the last weekend to learn about the empire and visit the feature exhibition at Royal Alberta Museum.
