Cheap Day Trip Near Edmonton: Abbey Centre Outdoor Waterpark in Blackfalds

Soak up the sun in Blackfalds, on a day trip that’s under two-hours away, or a fun stop on the way to Calgary with the kids, to surprise them (and make the road trip as easy as possible). The outdoor water slides at the Abbey Centre are one of the many fun things to do with kids in Blackfalds, and Red Deer area.

Admission for the whole family is just over $20 – a fantastic deal for a family afternoon or morning of fun, at the outdoor aquatic centre. It’s less expensive than a trip to the water park, and is on the way to many different destinations when you’re exploring Alberta.

Tips for visiting Abbey Centre Waterpark in Blackfalds:

  • Go early, a fun facility, you’re going to want to get there early to get a spot on one of the loungers - and also to ensure you’re going to be let in, as admission is based on capacity

  • Don’t forget the sunscreen. Both the pool, slides and spray park is outdoors

  • Try the new 10 ft climbing wall in the Junior pool!

  • Children must be 48” tall to ride the waterslides alone. Guests who have not reached the height limit can go down with an adult, or child older than 13.

  • As of our visit (July 15), the spray park is non-operational (but it provided more space to spend around the pool for families around the pool)

Features include: leisure pool with a zero depth entrance, the tots area, and 2 water slides. Lane swimmers and divers can take advantage of the 4-lane Jr. Olympic pool (25m) with a 1 metre diving board and all are welcome to relax in the 26-person hot tub.

Abbey Centre is located at 4500 Womacks Rd in Blackfalds, Alberta. See programming, hours and get more information about the facility at www.blackfalds.com
