Complete Guide to Visiting K-Days with Kids 2022 - What to Eat, See and Do
We’ve got you covered for your visit to K-Days this month with the kids. We’re sharing where to go, what to do, and the best things to eat - even ways that you can do K-Days on the cheap. Okay, there’s a bit of an oxymoron there – I know that if you’ve got kids that go on rides, K-Days isn’t really on the cheap (but we’ve got some tips to make it easier on the summer budget).
Use this guide to plan your successful trip to visit K-Days with Kids
Go more than Once with a Festival Pass (full 10-day access) $33 or pick up two full ten day passes for $29.99 at Costco!
Instead of buying a gate pass for one day, buy a gate pass that’s going to be good for the entire ten days. If you’ve got kids, you can check out the entertainment on every day of the festival, not just the day that you’re there. Since the kids entertainment is switched up, you’re always going to be able to see something new, and get in for one price. From the motorcycle shows, to free concerts, fireworks and indoor kid zone, cheaper. General admission to the grounds is regularly priced at $18 for adults and $12 for youth. Children under six are free.
Not all Activities are Included
Not all activities are included with the ride all day bracelets. If you’re planning to try the add-ons, skip the expensive ATM fees and bring cash with you if you’re trying to stay under that summer budget. Every vendor we tried for food accepted card, so cash isn’t fully necessary. How much cash should you bring with you? As a family, we skip the games because they’re not something essential to our experience. Extra entertainment options included the moon bounce house ($8) and the water bubbles ($15), glitter tattoos ($4-20)
TIP: Save money, bring your own water bottles and use the on-site filling stations to stay hydrated, it’s free!
Ride-All-Day Passes are the Best Value ($52)
Ride all day passes are a bit of a splurge for the family at $52 (adults/children) but for most of the Kiddieland rides, children can go together unaccompanied by an adult as long as they meet the minimum height requirements (36/42″). If you’re an adult uninterested in going on the rides, skipping ride passes for the adults can be a great way to save a bit of money on the experience. If you haven’t this year, you’re going to want to buy the ride all day passes in advance because you save $20 ($47). At $1/ticket, the ride all day passes are worth it.
If you’re going to leave during the festival, you can return with your ride all day bracelet (and skip the line to get in) but you will have to pay for parking.

What to do at K-Days 2022
Escape the Heat in the Kids Zone
Alternatively, you can hit up ‘Hall E’ for the Kid Zone, where you’ll find obstacle courses on turf, Fitset Ninja courses set up to try, and games to play with the kids. There are also character visits, and an interactive firetruck demonstration three times daily. At the kids zone, you’ll also find a giant, eighty-five year old tortoise. To cool off outdoors, hit up the far end of the grounds, past the food vendors, there’s a giant snow machine where you can escape the heat, and cool off.
Must-do Rides at K-Days
The rides in Kiddieland start at 36-42″ to ride with an adult, or alone. The majority of the rides in Kiddieland don’t have lines that are too long, and are priced at around 4 tickets each. Favourites in our house were the ferris wheel. Over in the regular rides, the gondola ferris wheel the Niagara Falls log ride were big hits! (42” height minimum and with an adult for these rides).
The express ride pass will get you to the front of the line a little quicker - allowing beteween 4-12 people to board from the express line (depending on the ride) before the general line, but for the kiddie land rides, we tagged teamed it, and one parent watched the kids on the rides, and the other went to the next ride to stand in line. For us, it wasn’t a big deal, but to add this on, it’s around $20/person. You could totally skip this.
See the Fireworks
Catch the fireworks show, nightly, throughout the festival. It’s a good reason to stay up late. Get all the details for the fireworks at K-Days, here.
Visit the Urban Farm
Stop in at Edmonton Urban Farm for free activities! The Urban Farm is open Open Saturdays 10-4 and Sundays 2-5 during K Days, and you can take a train (free) straight to the adventure from Hall B. Visit for rock painting, crown making and visits with the bunnies!
What to Eat at K-Days (That Your Kids Will Love)
Cotton Candy Noodles. Before you overthink this, the cotton candy is set lightly on top of the noodles from Salt Spring Noodles. These noodles are pretty decent for fair food, and were devoured by the kids in our crew. The cotton candy noodles are a pre-chosen sauce, with chicken and vegetables. Not too spicy, and plain enough for your pickiest noodle enthusiasts.
Buttered French Toast Little Doughnuts. You’ve got the choice of regular or corn fritter little donuts with icing sugar and butter syrup. Add on cinnamon sugar and you’ve got tasty mini doughnuts. This one was a fan favourite!
Mac and Cheese Soft Serve. I know, I know. You’ve got to try this one though. In the same food stand, you’ll find incredible Dole Whip, with toasted coconut. It’s delicious. Disclaimer - not one child, or adult truly loved the Mac and Cheese Soft Serve.
Blended Frozen pineapple in a pineapple. Or, watermelon in a watermelon. Like all the snacks, it’s a bit of a splurge at fourteen bucks, but it’s just fruit, and you’ve got the novelty factor of eating a blended drink from the actual fruit.
Freak Fries! The freakishly long twelve-inch fries, the giant bowl of curly fries with toppings - this is a dish that’s going to be enough to serve the whole family. Try it if everyone’s hungry!
