Weekend Guide: What to do in Edmonton this Weekend with Kids - January 13-15

Bonnie Doon Community Movie Night: Inside Out
It’s movie night! Friday, January 13th there’s a screening of Disney/Pixar's Inside Out (2018), which follows Riley: a happy, hockey-loving 11-year-old Midwestern girl, whose life turns upside-down when she and her parents move to San Francisco.

World Snow Day at Strathcona Recreation Centre
January 14/15, 2023
Strathcona Wilderness Centre for an afternoon full of snow fun to celebrate World Snow Day! Activities will include; scavenger hunt on skis, snow painting, snow angels, snow forts, color ice gems/totems, orienteering and hot chocolate.

See a Giant Earth in the Feature Pyramid at Muttart Conservatory
This weekend, it’s the opening of the latest feature pyramid at Muttart Conservatory. It’s your chance to see a 7 meter earth, floating in the air. The feature pyramid is included in regular admission, and is a must-see this month. It’s only here until February 26, 2023, so see it while you can!

Lisa DeJong is a Para snowboarder who won silver at the 2022 Beijing Paralympics. Join her for an inspiring afternoon and hear about her journey to the Paralympics. This event is free, but registration is required.

Woodcroft Skating, Pizza and Movie Night
Join us for some skating fun followed by a pizza dinner. We’ll finish off the night with a family friendly movie! Keep an eye on our social media, in January we’ll be posting the movie. For the movie, children and youth are invited to bring their pajamas and a sleeping bag or mat (there will be some mats available at the community centre).

Pool Party at YMCA
Celebrate the weekend with FREE swimming at YMCA. There’s a pool party this weekend, and you’ll have to pre-register for the fun, but it’s a completely free way to swim with the kids this weekend.

Lantern Making Workshop
Your lanterns will be on display in the Community Lantern Gardens on the Festival site during the festival February 1-4, 2023 and will be seen by over 45,000 visitors! Or you might choose to keep your lantern so you can carry it when you come to the festival. All materials will be provided.
