Robot Servers and Japanese Izakayas: 5 Cool Places to Eat in Edmonton with Kids

Exploring a new restaurant is our favourite way to spend a Saturday afternoon with our kids. Finding new and unique places to eat in Edmonton, from robots serving up the meal, to a place that will transport you straight into the back alley of an Izakaya in Japan

Dorinku Osaka
10328 Jasper Avenue

You’ll love the lunch specials and the vibe, and your kids are going to love the kid-friendly options on the menu at Dorinku Izakaya. From the wall of Neko cats when you enter the restaurant, to the pachinko machine and Osaka wall of lights at the back of the restaurant, it’s a really cool place to try a bowl of ramen. Don’t skip the ramen pop up cafe that happens on the weekend in the ‘speakeasy’ in the back. Our kids have proclaimed the gyoza at Dorinku Osaka the best they’ve had outside of the streets of Osaka.

D Spot Cafe
3803 Calgary Trail

D Spot, or ‘Dessert Spot’ brings together the combination of pancakes, desserts and mountains of candy to create Willy Wonka dessert creations. The dishes are large enough for two kids to share, and for you to have a few bites of yourself. The menu is filled with photos of the dessert creations, making it easy to choose between the sweet creations. The lines can get long here during peak times, so visit during off-peak hours to avoid waiting in a line outdoors.

Brew + Bloom Cafe
10550 115 St NW

It’s the most instagrammable restaurant in Edmonton, with the gorgeous blooms woven through the ceiling, and decorated with florals throughout the quaint room. Lunch, happy hour and dinner. Fries, poutine, chicken Alfredo created with pink pasta and a gorgeous selection of desserts - there’s something for everyone on the menu. The mimosa and sweet cloud lattes are served with a cloud of cotton candy on top.

Chill Hot Pot Chinese
7219 104 St NW

At Chill Hot Pot, you’ll get the hot pot, which is a cool experience in itself - with the fun addition of having the ingredients served up by a robot server. The all-you-can-eat option is a popular option for hungry kids, and the selection of desserts is top notch. Don’t skip the milk tea, it’s a delicious drink option. There aren’t many other places in the city you’ll be served by a robot cat! Plus, the hot pots are individual - that makes bringing multiple kids to eat hotpot just that much easier.

Tiramisu Bistro
10750 124 St

Reserve a Globe outside of the cafe for a winter wonderland dining experience or pop by during the summer season for one of our kids favourite things to eat in Edmonton - the spaghetti cone! Brunch is likely the most kid-friendly of meals at Tiramisu Bistro, and is a fun way to spend a weekend morning.
