The CP Holiday Train is Making Four Stops Near Edmonton this Christmas

The CP Rail Holiday Train is a traditional way to celebrate Christmas, get outside, and see Christmas lights on the move, a holiday concert and an outdoor of bundling up, hot cocoa and Christmas magic, near Edmonton.

This year, there are four stops near Edmonton you can experience:

  • Edmonton - December 9 at South of the old Edmonton CP Station, 7935 Gateway Blvd.

  • Leduc - December 8 at 47th Street between 50th Avenue & 47th Avenue

  • Wetaskiwin - December 8 at CP ES Building 4009 50th Street

  • Millet - December 8 at Pedestrain crossing, 50th Street & 48th Avenue

The Canadian Holiday Train departs Montreal on November 27 and follows CP tracks west to Vancouver. Performing free concerts in support of food banks from Montreal to Calgary are performers Tenille Townes and Aysanabee, while first-time Holiday Train artists McKenzie Porter and Virginia to Vegas will finish out the tour departing out of Calgary and wrapping up in the greater Vancouver area on December 18.

Here’s what you should know before you plan a family outing to see the CP Rail Holiday Train

  • Make sure you’re on time for the scheduled performance, because each performance only lasts thirty minutes! Get there early to get a spot near the front. We like to have one parent claim the spot, and switch off, if necessary, while the kids can stay warm in the car - meaning you can stay and enjoy the whole show!

  • Dress in layers! Keep the little kids warm and the experience will be much more enjoyable!

  • Bring a sled. Some of the locations are right off of a main road, but other locations may be a little further from where you can park, or may become quite popular - as it’s a busy holiday event - bring a sled layered with blankets for young kids and skip the stroller for the snowy side of the road performance locations.
