UofA is Hosting a FREE Week-Long Summer Camp for Teens Interested in a Career in Medicine

This summer, high school students in Edmonton can attend a free summer camp try out the career of medicine for a week, in-person at the University.

Eligible students must be in grade 10, 11 or 12 students in the 2021-2022 school year and have a low income background* OR other such perceived barriers (e.g. financial, cultural, language, social) to pursuing a career in medicine

Camp Activities Include:

  • Human anatomy and physiology lectures

  • Clinical skills (ranging from otoscope and stethoscope use to suturing and ultrasounds)

  • Group discussions/problem-based learning

  • Interaction with medical students, physicians and patients

  • Financial planning and advice

  • Field games and team building

The camp is with hands-on activities, and team building for students to build skills, nurture interest and build relationships during the week-long experience in the third week of July. (July 18 - 22, 2022)
