WEEKEND GUIDE: Things to do in Edmonton this Weekend with Kids - May 27-29, 2022

Kick off Edmonton’s festival summer with the UFest at Borden Park this weekend. From Rodeos to U-fest and a mini golf pop up that you’re not going to want to miss, and the launch of Downtown SPARK - there’s so much to do in Edmonton with kids.

Friday

Visit UFest at Borden Park - It’s Free!
UFest is Edmonton’s own Ukrainian Festival and one of the first big festivals to kick off the summer season in Edmonton. The FREE festival features kids activities, a petting zoo, cultural displays, food, dancing and music.

Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo
It’s Rodeo weekend, and yes - there’s a midway! At the rodeo, you can experience professional rodeo performances, the midway, a parade, pancake breakfasts, car show, K-Days talent search, family fun fair, and so much more!

Rainmaker Rodeo Weekend in St. Albert
Returning will be our Rodeo, our multi-million dollar fairgrounds, our fun and exciting rock and country concerts on Friday and Saturday night, our family entertainment including wobbly balls, and our marketplace complete with our delicious food trucks that are ready to bring you their succulent treats!

On top of the events at the grounds, we also have the Parade and Pancake breakfast that will take place on Saturday morning! Businesses and groups from all over St. Albert and the Capital Region will be there to show off their floats, outfits and excitement because we are back and excited to be putting on this fun filled weekend!

Get out of Town
There are so many cool things happening around Alberta this weekend, including the Rise UP! Hot air balloon festival, and you can even book a visit to an alpaca farm! Saturday

Good Old Lawn Fun Mini Golf Pop-up
Enjoy Good Ol’ Lawn Fun at a pop-up minigolf course by Lowlands Project Space! This unique course features artist created holes spanning 12 different yards in the Northwest Edmonton community of Lowlands. Come see the design and artistry behind each hole in this exhibition as you the play through a fun and challenging round of mini golf!

Rainmaker Rodeo Free Pancake Breakfast

Free Family Movie Night: Sing 2
This is an event you’re going to want to leave your house for. Bring your family and friends to a FREE showing of SING 2, May 28 at 6PM at our Kingsway Campus! Free popcorn and beverages will be served!

Learning Day at Beaver Hills Biosphere
Learn, play and appreciate the forest in the Beaver Hills Biosphere at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre. During the learning day, stations will be spread out around fox loop trail. Participants will adventure at their own pace and interact with the stations that interest them the most.

Inflatables in the Pool at Emerald Hills
This is a fun recreation opportunity, sponsored by Pasta Pantry. You can drop into the pool for a fun inflatable experience, perfect for younger children. The inflatables are included in regular admission.

Sunday

Explore Downtown Spark
Downtown Spark is back again in 2022 and we’re filling Downtown streets with fun and whimsical art installations from around the world, alongside some of Edmonton’s best talent. This year, we’re also throwing two street parties featuring live music, beer gardens, extended patios, street performers and more. Wander the streets to see the works of art come to life and enjoy Downtown’s wonderful businesses along the way.

Try BMX Day
Sunday is Try BMX Day, and you’ve just got to bring your kid, a long sleeve shirt and a pants to the track! They’ll have helmets, and everything else you need to try the sport. Visit the track at 6850 88 Street between 1-4pm, to try something new this summer!
