Visit the Devon Fire Rescue to celebrate ether 75th Anniversary. On Sunday, you’re invested to come to the station for fun, fire fall tours, visits with the fire dog, photo ops with the old fire truck and snacks like hot dogs and birthday cake.
The Devon Fire Department was started by the Imperial Oil company in the early 1950s but was soon turned over to the newly built Town of Devon. One of the first fire trucks was a 1944 International that was RCAF surplus. It was brought back to life in the 1980s by a group of firefighters and that same truck (called “Old Red”) can still be seen in the annual Devon Days Parade.
Today, The Devon Fire Department is a well trained group of approximately 35 dedicated volunteers - men and women who provide fire protection, rescue and education to the residents of Devon and the County of Parkland (District 1).
