Join members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Edmonton Centre, along with other parties, as we celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve. This is an annual event held on the Sunday of the Labour Day weekend.
From 2:00PM – 5:00PM RASC on the lawn in front of the beach, members will have an information kiosk and telescopes set up for Solar viewing, weather permitting. The Sun has been very active this year and this is an opportunity to see Sun spots as well a solar prominences through our members telescopes, as well as talk astronomy.
At 8:00PM our featured speaker Joshua Peltonen from the U of A will deliver a presentation in the Astotin Lake theater.
From 9:00PM nighttime viewing will take place, weather permitting on the lawn in front of the beach.
